If injected in sufficient amounts, liquid or elemental mercury produces a distinctive contrast angiogram on the chest radiograph or CT. Monitoring Hg in blood and urine is indicated. Few or no symptoms are present, in contrast to inhalation of mercury vapors or heated fumes which can effectuate ARDS. Examination for evidence of puncture or skin damage at injection sites is indicated
