Diffuse alveolar hemorrhage (DAH). Diagnosed by either fresh hemorrhage denoting recent active bleeding, stainable iron in macrophages (the Gold score) and/or capillaritis. See also 'Path: capillaritis' and BAL cytology under hemorrhage. See also under IIIa.
