Esophageal pathology (erosion, ulcer, tear, rupture, fistula, Boerhaave’s syndrome)

May cause chest pain (See under XIb). Including drug-induced ulcers (PMID 26230070). Boerhaave's syndrome (BS) corresponds to a longitudinal esophageal rupture sometimes vomiting-induced, whcih may lead to bacterial mediastinitis, pneumothorax and/or empyema. BS manifests with mediothoracic chest pain and extraesopageal air on imaging.
