(Fr: bronchospasme sévère ou catastrophique). Can be fatal within minutes. Definitive avoidance of the causal drug is imperative. May occur in the context of anaphylaxis. Patients with preexisting asthma, underlying atopy or those who receive B-blockers are at risk.
