Cough, acute (can be violent and/or explosive)

(Fr: toux explosive). Violent, explosive coughing is electively seen in the peri- or intraoperative period with induction of general anesthesia. Fainting, cough syncope and acute aspiration pneumonia may develop (PMID 24101960)
